Why Hotel Signage Is a Brand Investment, Not an Expense
Guests see a property's signs before they check in. Consistent, well-made signs read as a well-run property; faded, inconsistent or missing signs read as the opposite.
The return is direct: better guest photos on social media, easier navigation with fewer questions to staff, and a property that looks like what guests paid for.
Entrance and Building Signs: The First Impression
The entrance sign is the most important sign on the property. It is what guests photograph when they arrive and see every time they return. For a resort or boutique hotel in Guanacaste, the entrance sign should be illuminated — visible at night when many guests arrive after long travel days — and built to last in the tropical climate.
Illuminated channel letters mounted on a concrete or stone base are the usual choice for hotel entrances. They are visible from the road and legible at speed. For properties with complex logos or graphic elements, a lightbox sign with a UV-printed face gives the same visibility with more design freedom. We build both with IP65-rated electrical components and corrosion-resistant hardware.
Building identification signs — the letters or logo on the main building facade — serve a dual purpose: they make the property easy to find and they appear in every photograph taken from the street or pool area. Channel letters with halo illumination (light glowing behind the letters against the wall) suit luxury properties and photograph well.
Wayfinding: Getting Guests Where They Need to Go
With poor wayfinding, lost guests keep stopping staff to ask the way. Clear, well-placed directional signs fix that, and guests read it as good service. It is a signage problem, not a staffing problem.
Good wayfinding uses a consistent visual system: same fonts, colors, and materials throughout the property. Aluminum post signs with UV-printed ACM panels are the standard for outdoor wayfinding — durable, lightweight, and easy to update when amenities change. Key locations to sign: entrance to parking, parking to reception, reception to rooms, reception to pool, reception to restaurant, and emergency exits.

Wide-Format UV Printing: The Most Versatile Tool in Hotel Signage
Wide-format UV printing uses ultraviolet-cured inks printed directly onto substrates up to 3 meters wide. It produces photographic-quality graphics at any scale, on rigid panels, flexible vinyl, canvas, mesh and more.
**Exterior wall graphics and building wraps**: large-scale UV prints on vinyl or ACM panels can cover entire building facades with brand imagery, seasonal promotions, or artistic murals. These prints are UV-laminated for outdoor durability and can be produced and installed within days. **Lobby and corridor murals**: wide-format UV prints on rigid PVC or foam board panels make feature walls. A photographic mural of local scenery, the hotel's own graphics or an abstract piece is printed at full wall scale, at a resolution that holds up close.
**Restaurant and bar graphics**: UV prints on ACM panels or acrylic create menu boards, feature walls, and branded surfaces that are easy to clean and durable in food-service environments. **Pool and outdoor area signage**: UV-printed PVC panels for pool rules, amenity identification, and directional signs withstand pool chemicals, humidity, and direct sun exposure. **Event and promotional banners**: wide-format UV printing on PVC vinyl produces event banners, promotional displays, and temporary signage for weddings, conferences, and seasonal promotions — reusable across multiple events.

Room Number Signs and Guest Room Signage
Room number signs are often overlooked, and guests notice them. A number that is hard to read, poorly lit or out of style with the property irritates guests for the whole stay.
For boutique hotels and luxury resorts, UV-printed acrylic signs with brushed aluminum backing are durable and easy to clean. For larger properties, UV-printed PVC panels with consistent numbering systems are cost-effective and long-lasting. All room number signs should be installed at a consistent height, with consistent lighting, and with numbers large enough to read in corridor lighting conditions.
Safety, Regulatory, and Pool Signage
Costa Rica's CFIA (Colegio Federado de Ingenieros y Arquitectos) and municipal regulations require specific safety signage for commercial hospitality properties: emergency exit signs, fire extinguisher locations, pool depth and rules signs, and occupancy limits for enclosed spaces. These are not optional — they are required for operating permits and insurance.
We produce the required regulatory signs to Costa Rican standards, in your property's own style. Pool rules signs, for example, can use your brand colors and fonts instead of generic stock designs.
